Talent Wanted - Gallery Manager (Full-time)
1a space, founded in 1998, is an independent, non-profit making contemporary visual arts organization and exhibition venue founded by a collective of Hong Kong artworkers. Over the past twenty years, 1a space has presented and organized more than 160 exhibitions and activities. 1a space has played a vital role in developing new frontiers for the visual arts scene in Hong Kong and its representation abroad.
1a space is now inviting applicants for the position ofGallery Manager (Full-time). We are looking for professionals who is able to perform competently in the changing arts and cultural environment. The position will be introduced to various aspects of arts administration and learning key knowledge and specialized areas required of arts administrators.
Responsibilities:
Manage the daily operation of the gallery and the office
Assist with Board of Director and curatorial panel with the execution of the organization
Assist artists and curators for the preparation and production of art and cultural related exhibitions and projects
Work with the Board of Directors and Curatorial Panel members to research on funding opportunities and assisting in related applications
Coordination of installation and de-installation of exhibitions
Oversees the gallery promotion of exhibitions and other events, liaison with other arts organizations when necessary
Requirements:
A well-organized, mature and independent person with not less than six years of full time administrative working experience. Immediately available preferred
With strong interest in working with artists and related events and projects
Excellent communication skill and good writing skills in both English and Chinese
Preferably with Degree in Art, Design, Culture Studies, Art Administration or related disciplines
Preferably with knowledge of setting art exhibitions and or related experience or willingness to further acquire the knowledge of exhibition production
