Talent Wanted - Media Strategist (Full-time)

1a space, founded in 1998, is an independent, non-profit making contemporary visual arts organization and exhibition venue founded by a collective of Hong Kong artworkers. Over the past twenty years, 1a space has presented and organized more than 160 exhibitions and activities. 1a space has played a vital role in developing new frontiers for the visual arts scene in Hong Kong and its representation abroad.

1a space is now inviting applicants for the position of Media Strategist (Full-time). We are looking for professionals who are able to perform competently in the changing arts and cultural environment. The position will be introduced to various aspects of arts administration and learning key knowledge and specialized areas required of arts administrators.



  • Content creating for 1a space, 1a art criticism, and JCCALAP social media (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)

  • Produce monthly reports and data analyses on all social media accounts

  • Run quarterly competitive analysis of 1a space social media accounts against accounts of comparable local and international cultural institutions

  • Responsible for local and international media outreach, feature printed and digital media coverage

  • Create regular newsletter for 1a space, 1a art criticism, and JCCALAP programs

  • Creative mindset in promotion strategy, advanced skills in video documentation and photography

  • In charge of online streaming of all events at 1a space

  • Assist in general administrative and supporting duties of 1a space

  • Liaise with different parties involved in exhibitions, events, and guided tours

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and promotional campaigns for the gallery, exhibition, and related cultural programs


  • Hong Kong permanent residents aged 18 or above with fluency in Cantonese, English and Mandarin

  • Possess a recognized university degree preferably in Fine Arts, Design, Cultural Management, Arts &

  • Humanities or equivalent within the last 3 years

  • Creative and strong passion in contemporary arts

  • A team player motivated to work in a creative environment with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Knowledge in digital equipment setup and photographic techniques is an advantage

  • Experienced in digital marketing and social marketing is an advantage

  • Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and video editing is an advantage

  • Required to work at flexible hours or on Saturday, Sunday, or public holidays for operational needs

  • Preferably have 1-2 years of relevant experience in arts and culture. Immediately available preferred
