Art Lab: Performative Matter
As the literary critic and writer Nikolay Chernyshevsky said, "Beauty is life."
The objects we touch daily repeat and record the multi-layered traces of our existence. Meanwhile, the spaces or sites configured by these visible objects actively shape the paces and postures of our bodies. Selected for the 1a space ALTART Art Education Program, the "Art Lab: Performative Matter", sparked from the seen and the tangible, through creative collaboration by participants, attempts to unfold the textures and lifelines of everyday objects, expanding our field of vision while allowing art to return to the purest essence of lived experience.
In this workshop series, participants will navigate between the art space and the settings of everyday life, creating through recording, collecting, and transforming everyday matter. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their work in the final presentation in October. Regardless of experience, anyone interested in artistic creation, adventurous, and eager to experiment with materials and spaces is welcome to participate!

Venue: 1a space (Unit 14, Cattle Depot Artist Village, 63 Ma Tau Kok Road, To Kwa Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong) & other communal spaces
Target audience: Individuals aged 18 and above who are interested in artistic creation

Remarks:
● Each participant will receive a small subsidy for materials to support their creation.
● The venue for some sessions will be decided by the participants. If outdoor activities are required, please consider your physical condition before participating.
● Please wear comfortable and stain-resistant clothing to the workshops.
● The workshops will be recorded by photographs and videos, and the footage may be exhibited on relevant social media platforms and at the exhibition in October.
