When The Ink Blossoms
This workshop offers an immersive creative experience that bridges the visceral power of "Bokusho" (contemporary ink calligraphy) with the refined aesthetics of "Shimenawa"—the traditional Japanese New Year wreath. Participants will be guided to externalize their inner landscapes, transforming fleeting emotions into unique, tangible visual art.
Diverging from the rigid conventions of traditional calligraphy, this session champions pure abstract expression. Guided by personal intuition rather than structured characters or strokes, the experience is designed to be fully accessible, requiring no prior calligraphy background. Under the tutor’s guidance, participants will learn to harness the tonal gradients of ink, the fluid movement of lines, and the expressive texture of feibai (flying white/dry brush strokes) to intuitively manifest their current emotional states and dynamic energy onto paper.
This emotional ink masterpiece will then be seamlessly integrated with the "Shimenawa" wreath—a sacred symbol of blessing and renewal. By curation and arranging an array of dried botanicals and ornaments, participants will explore the interplay of color harmony and spatial composition, ultimately materializing and grounding their internal emotions into a compelling, tactile artwork.
