- 【Art Future- In search for future talents in Contemporary Arts ── Part 1: Open Call for Artist/Cur
In response to the unprecedented challenges and its impact, Art Future invites young and emerging art talents to submit innovative project idea highlighting the possibilities and imagination of the future for the art circle, humanity and beyond. The project empowers selected curators and artists to realize their concept into physical events with an online showcase. Art Future encourages young and emerging local and international talents in the contemporary art field with curatorial guidance, training and advice to help actualize their artistic project. To enhance regional and international idea exchange and dialogues, the project will be divided into two parts to engage with talents locally and internationally. Projects that take innovative curatorial approaches and experimental formats will be encouraged. The current situation has set the stage for an shift toward the online and digital solutions. Art Future is highlighting the variety of programme that make possible within the online format and its potential to innovative programme structure. Applicant should consider a possible plan to conduct and curate the project at a distance and remotely through online channels. - Talent Wanted: Gallery Manager
1a space, founded in 1998, is an independent, non-profit making contemporary visual arts organization and exhibition venue founded by a collective of Hong Kong artworkers. Over the past twenty years, 1a space has presented and organized more than 160 exhibitions and activities. 1a space has played a vital role in developing new frontiers for the visual arts scene in Hong Kong and its representation abroad. 1a space is now seeking a high caliber candidate to join us in the capacity of as Gallery Manager. Responsibilities: Management of daily gallery operations, including budgeting and grant-writing Managing exhibition schedules and Strategic development of the programme and perform social impact measurement for sustainability growth Coordination with curators, artists, and project partners in project fulfillment Supervise the administration team to make sure the smooth operation of the gallery and implementation of programme Maintaining professional, inspiring gallery appearance including hanging and placement of artworks Lead the overall programme to reach programme goals Reaching new institutional partners and audience for exhibition and public programmes Shaping overall vision, identity, and branding of programme Supervise the programme team to make sure the smooth implementation of the programme Liaise with curators, artists, programme partners and institutional partners for the planning and implementation of Programme Financial controlling, manage and oversee the programme budget Qualifications and work experience: Degree in art history, visual art or fine art, art management, art education, curatorial studies or museum studies, or related disciplines At least 8 years' working experience in art, NGOs, charity / community project management, academics, and/or social service settings, preferably at managerial level Excellent writing skills (in both English and Chinese) and interpersonal / communication skills Equivalent experience working in the art and cultural industry particularly with project management experience. The position aims to allow the candidate to perform competently in the arts and cultural industry and will be introduced to various aspects of management and production of arts events. Responsibilities: Conceptualize, create and execute visual graphics and promotional materials for exhibition and art programmes. His photography projects were exhibited in Austria, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Latvia, Taiwan and the UK. His artistic practice lies between documentary photography, artistic and archival research, and a contemporary take to analogue photographic practice. He is currently an Assistant Professor in photography at the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University and a curatorial member of 1a space, an independent art space in Hong Kong.
