  • Life is elsewhere: Jolene Mok's Solo Exhibition | Book Launch and Purchase

The exhibition of the Mid-Career project, life is elsewhere: you know where to find me, will take place from 25 Nov 2022 to 31 Jan 2023 and will be presenting artwork by artist Jolene Mok. Mid-Career calls for a trio group composed of an artist, a curator and a researcher to participate in the Artist Exhibition & Publication Series. In response to the shortage of mid-career retrospectives in Hong Kong and the need of documenting and researching the local art ecology, aim to initiate a long-term commitment to a series of comprehensive solo exhibitions and high-quality publications dedicated to mid-career artists. Photography, film and video have been the chief media of Jolene’s works in the past decade. These creations relied heavily on the support and resources provided by the people and places of the residency programmes she participated in, and often had to be completed within a specific time limit. In this sense, her works can basically be seen as an intuitive response to her experiences and surroundings. Hence, journeys on the sea, Scandinavian mountains, shopping arcades in Japan can all become the subject of her works. ►Speaker: Jolene Mok, IP Yuk Yiu, Evelyn Char ►Date & Time: 28 Jan 2023 (Sat), 2-4pm ►Venue: 1a space, Unit 14, Cattle Depot Artist Village, 63 Ma Tau Kok Road, To Kwa Wan, Kowloon ►Language: English ►Target Audience: All are welcomed & no admission fee required *To join, please fill in an online registration form at below. 王梓健聲景裝置作品 A Soundscape Installation by Peter Wong Tsz Kin What Echoes Beneath the City's Drowning Sound? Sound artist Peter Wong Tsz Kin began collecting the urban sounds of Hong Kong in 2021, traversing various locations to listen, setting up recording devices to capture, edit, document, and upload—systematically and digitally recording sounds to create a sound map and archive.   After four years, Wong has become increasingly aware of his discomfort with the city's noise, the chaos of streets and sounds, and the daily bombardment of excessive auditory information, leading to a growing internal conflict with his identity as a field recordist. This soundscape installation will incorporate selected segments of previously collected field recordings, a spatial audio system, virtual city sounds, and the juxtaposition of generative images alongside the artist's live interactions. It aims to deepen auditory experiences through the sedimentation of time, reinterpreting urban soundscape in a space that reflects profound internal contradictions, constructing a sound utopia where audiences can collectively experience and contemplate the possibility of finding tranquillity amidst the noise. Free Admission, you are recommended to spend 20-30 minutes for the complete experience 藝術家 Artist:王梓健 Peter Wong Tsz Kin 策劃及製作 Curated and produced by:WAVINCITY - 香港城巿聲音紀錄計劃 Hong Kong Urban Soundscape Recording Project 視覺設計 Visual Design:劉婉婷 Belle Lao 燈光設計 Lighting Design:李定達 Le Dinh Dat 錄像協作 Video Collaborator:陳家濠 Gary Chan 監製 Producer:王禧彤 Becky Keung Wong 協助 Collaborated by:1a空間 1a space 平面設計 Graphic Design:劉婉婷 Belle Lao 策劃及製作 Curated and produced by:WAVINCITY 資助 Supported by:香港藝術發展局 Hong Kong Arts Development Council 香港藝術發展局支持藝術表達自由,本計劃內容並不反映本局意見。 Hong Kong Arts Development Council supports freedom of artistic expression.
