  • Life is elsewhere: Jolene Mok's Solo Exhibition | Book Launch and Purchase

The exhibition of the Mid-Career project, life is elsewhere: you know where to find me, will take place from 25 Nov 2022 to 31 Jan 2023 and will be presenting artwork by artist Jolene Mok. Mid-Career calls for a trio group composed of an artist, a curator and a researcher to participate in the Artist Exhibition & Publication Series. In response to the shortage of mid-career retrospectives in Hong Kong and the need of documenting and researching the local art ecology, aim to initiate a long-term commitment to a series of comprehensive solo exhibitions and high-quality publications dedicated to mid-career artists. Photography, film and video have been the chief media of Jolene’s works in the past decade. These creations relied heavily on the support and resources provided by the people and places of the residency programmes she participated in, and often had to be completed within a specific time limit. In this sense, her works can basically be seen as an intuitive response to her experiences and surroundings. Hence, journeys on the sea, Scandinavian mountains, shopping arcades in Japan can all become the subject of her works. ►Speaker: Jolene Mok, IP Yuk Yiu, Evelyn Char ►Date & Time: 28 Jan 2023 (Sat), 2-4pm ►Venue: 1a space, Unit 14, Cattle Depot Artist Village, 63 Ma Tau Kok Road, To Kwa Wan, Kowloon ►Language: English ►Target Audience: All are welcomed & no admission fee required *To join, please fill in an online registration form at below. Cosmic Temporary

Cosmic temporary is an act about sound art practice. Inspired by how celestial objects meet in space, the group is also a temporary formation. The instruments, timbres and methods of each individual performer varies, we are looking for a possible “syzygy”(alignment) in the space and sounds. Playing sound could be a learning process. This piece requires the 4 performers to play along the composition rules inspired by fortune telling and generative art. Through the performance, the group wishes to explore a new form of improvisation, under the mixture of traditional and contemporary methods. Instruments ready, let the voyage begin! Limited quotas for performance admission.
