- We are at Art Basel Hong Kong 2026
再沒有 而且永遠不會再有 Never will there be again The days of August and September last year have long since vanished. What remains of that garden from then? AU Hoi Lam and CHANG Hoi Wood used the remnants of their work ' If there is a garden, where would I be? ' as their creative materials to construct a temporary resting place at Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 . Eaves, bamboo, wood, and stone constitute parts of the painting, fragments of the poem, segments of microscopic imagery. If something is determined to be ' never will there be again ’, then let it become a void that allows people to pause and breathe before it disappears. The weight of matter, traces of words, echoes in space, footsteps, places that once existed, time and shadows… How can we best remember all that has vanished? _______________________________________ Date|27 - 29/03/2026 (with Preview Days on March 25 and 26) Location|1a space Exhibition Booth, Level 1 Concourse, HKCEC (Near Entrance 1B) AU Hoi Lam @au.hoilam CHANG Hoi Wood @changhoiwood

down to earth (exhale) A Solo Exhibition of Works by Chloë Cheuk 著地 卓思穎個展 1a space proudly announces down to earth (exhale ), the 2nd edition of our Mid-Career Artist Exhibition and Publication Series. This project brings together the selected team of artist Chloë Cheuk, curator Yang Yeung, and researcher Christina Chung to explore the artist’s evolving practice with diverse perspectives. down to earth (exhale) is a solo exhibition of works by Montreal-based Hong Kong artist Chloë Cheuk. Her past sculptural and video works are contextualised in a Hong Kong that she is starting to get to know since relocating to Canada ten years ago. This exhibition presents Chloë Cheuk’s evolving practice, which is driven by curiosity, experimentation across mediums, and an ongoing quest to pursue completeness–an intrinsic quality in her artistic practice and her life. This exhibition is accompanied by the publishing of Cheuk’s first artist monograph, Chloë Cheuk: In Search of Completeness . 1a空間榮譽呈獻第二屆「藝術而立」展覽與出版系列:《著地》,呢個計劃由藝術家卓思穎、策展人楊陽同研究員鍾宛芝組成三人團隊,通過唔同嘅視角共同探索藝術家不斷演變嘅創作實踐。 Created in Collaboration by Chloë Cheuk Christina Chung Yang Yeung EXHIBITION | 7/3 - 10/5, 2026 OPENING RECEPTION | 7/3 (Sat) | 4-6pm OPENING HOURS | 11-7pm | Tue - Sun VENUE | Unit 14, Cattle Depot Artist Village, 63 Ma Tau Kok Road, To Kwa Wan SPONSORED BY | Air Canada Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec Eaton HK The Consulate General of Canada to Hong Kong and Macau SPECIAL THANKS TO b minor Videotage 製作團隊 卓思穎 鍾宛芝 楊陽 展覽 | 7/3 - 10/5, 2026 開幕 | 7/3 (週六) | 4-6pm 開放時間 | 11-7pm | 週二至週日 展覽場地 | 土瓜灣馬頭角道63號牛棚藝術村14號 贊助機構 | 加拿大航空 Air Canada 魁北克藝術與文學委員會 Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec 加拿大駐港澳總領事館 Consulate General of Canada 香港逸東酒店 Eaton HK 特別鳴謝 | b minor 錄映太奇 _______________________________________ PUBLIC PROGRAMMING [Public Dialogue 公眾座談] On Solitude and Creativity 孤獨與創作之間 15/3 (Sun 週日) | 3-4:30 pm | 1/F Kino, Eaton HK | Cantonese 廣東話 [Artist-led Chat 藝術家聚談] On Friendship: “Random Talk, Random Ask” 「友」問「友」答 21/3 (Sat 週六) | 3-4:30 pm | Videotage 錄映太奇 | Cantonese 廣東話 [Book Launch 藝術家專著發佈] 𝘊𝘩𝘭𝘰ë 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘶𝘬: 𝘐𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴《卓思穎:尋覓 · 完整》 29/3 (Sun 週日) | 1:15-2:00 pm | Art Basel Hong Kong Exchange Circle 巴塞爾藝術展香港展會藝群匯集 | English 英文 [Curator-led Exhibition Walkthrough @ 1a space 策展人導賞 @ 1a空間] With the artist and curator present 藝術家及策展人在場 27/3 (Fri 週五) | 6-6:30 pm 28/3 (Sat 週六), 29/3 (Sun 週日) | 12-12:30 pm With the curator present 策展人在場 2/4, 9/4, 16/4 (Thu 週四) | 6-6:30 pm | English 英文 Registration 報名 | https://forms.gle/LeXH9iqA169XEGPq9 Walk-ins are welcome for all public programming, subject to capacity. - 1a space Announces Open Call for the Second Edition of Mid-Career Artist Exhibition & Publication Series
1a space is pleased to announce an open call for trio group composed of an artist, a curator and a researcher to participate in the second edition of Mid-Career Artist Exhibition & Publication Series. In response to the shortage of mid-career retrospectives in Hong Kong and the need of documenting and researching the local art ecology, we aim to initiate a long-term commitment to a series of comprehensive solo exhibitions and high-quality publications dedicated to mid-career artists. Through demonstrating an artist’s creative process in a thorough and inclusive manner to the general public, the project serves to acknowledge and encourage prolonged artistic practices. In addition, by facilitating dynamic collaborations between leading Hong Kong artists, curators, and researchers, we hope to invite reflections upon different roles and possibilities in exhibition-making. We seek to support a trio consisted of an artist, a curator, and a researcher, to realise a solo exhibition at the gallery of 1a space in 2025, coupled with an artist monograph publication. Pairing a deserving curatorial talent with a mid-career artist, the survey exhibition is expected to make visible the progression of an artist’s journey, demonstrating how an artist reflects, reconfigures and rejects idea. The project also sees curatorial research as a core component in tandem with exhibition planning. We intend to develop cohesive and contextualised retrospectives that fill in the gap between larger public institutions and commercial galleries. In accompany with the exhibition, public programmes such as artist talk, book launch and curator tour will be organised, inviting the local community to interact with the artist, curator and researcher, and to expand related discussions. To further anchor the exhibition in the wider local art discourse, the selected researcher will be responsible to conduct research and produce essay(s) focused on the artist. The publication shall include, but is not limited to, introductory essay(s), biographical information on the artist, analyses of works of art, artwork illustrations and installation images of the exhibition. While the exhibition and related programmes are temporal events, the academic monograph produced will continue to contribute to the research of local art as a helpful and permanent resource. Successful Applicants will Receive : A solo exhibition in 1a gallery and associated public programmes Publication opportunity Administration and marketing support for the above-mentioned Eligibility: Applicants must be living and working in Hong Kong, or Hong Kong artists/curators/researchers living and working abroad. Please note that the project will not be able to cover travelling and accommodation costs for successful applicants coming from abroad.
Somewhere on the sea, there are countless sole floating platforms. Occasionally, they approach each other, at where they meet may generate different shapes of land through different forms of collision. They merge, push, or separate. The process of encounter is uncontrollable yet malleable. Initiated by the Cultivating Peace Project of Hong Kong Baptist University, it involves a group of university students, secondary school students and Hong Kong artists to meet and work together for several months. Through community tours, group sharings, creative exercises, etc., they get to know each other and explore the possibility of interpersonal and community peace. Through a series of works, the exhibition attempts to explore the changing distance and boundary between people, trace the balance point of relationship in the process, and at the same time connect to a broader context of the local community. Floating platforms challenge the trust between us and others. Before stability, may this process bring you to some wider lands. 展覽日期 Exhibition Period: 4-14/5/2023 11:00 - 19:00 地點 Venue: 1a space(香港九龍土瓜灣馬頭角道63號牛棚藝術村14號 Unit 14, Cattle Depot Artist Village, 63 Ma Tau Kok Road, To Kwa Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong) 開幕 Opening: 日期 Date: 4/5/2023 (四 Thur) 時間 Time: 17:30-18:30 地點 Venue: 香港九龍土瓜灣馬頭角道63號牛棚藝術村8號 Unit 8, Cattle Depot Artist Village, 63 Ma Tau Kok Road, To Kwa Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong 參展藝術家 Participating artists: 島仔藝術 Dou Chai Arts 鄧國騫 Kwok-hin Tang Rajat Sharma 梁翠萍 Sally Leung 李卓媛 Sharon Lee 蕭俞 Zoe Siu 參與學校 Participating schools: 聖公會諸聖中學 S.K.H.
