《1a Carnival》

Art is a game, and interactive games are also a form of creative communication. Through artist's interpretation, we invite you to explore art, experience improvisational games, and challenge your sensory perceptions, taking you into a playful world of creativity and fun!

Choy Hoi Ying “Frog-Trolly” — This initiative periodically invites local young artists to integrate their artistic concepts into products, blurring the lines between contemporary art and everyday items. It aims to redefine the relationship between artworks and the commercial market while exploring the various roles that art can play within communities.

“Frog-Trolly” features a double-sided screen printing installation. This interactive setup requires two participants to simultaneously apply pressure on both the front and back of the screen frame to create the printed design.

Liu Sin Tung Cheryl “Devices of Desire” — “You Get What You Get” is a gumball machine, “Super Visual” is a video work with AI-generated images based on the prompts of casino slot machine aesthetics, and “Throwing Rainbow” is an interactive work that challenges the concept of the game. This year, these three works are part of my research on desire and interactive devices in art practice. I am very interested in devices like capsule machines, vending machines, claw machines, and coin pushers; I like to see how their mechanism fits and applies to the art context and investigate their connection to their conceptual core of desire.

Lub Lub “Enter if Ready!”  — “Welcome to the mysterious space of Lub Lub” “Enter if Ready!” “Wait a moment”

Lub Lub Studio will bring four art graduates to 1a space. Four items from the studio will be featured. The combination of sudden scene changes and role-playing will create a unique gaming experience for participants, focusing on communication and purely for the sake of enjoyment.

Mist Gallery “Golden Axe” — The Mist Gallery features several artists who use cutting as a theme for their Christmas carnival. Cutting a turkey is a traditional Christmas activity, and a barn is a place for cattle, so cutting is an important ritual. It’s all about fun, and cutting reveals interesting aspects of things from the other side.

We engage the audience with tests of vision and sound through cutting—cutting sound and images, slicing colors, and opening emotions in an infinite loop. Mist offers a knife-throwing game to test visual acuity, Andio presents crisp sounds of hand-cut chips, Itit creates sound effects with cards, Jack expresses emotions through cutting, and Tung showcases her radish-cutting skills. There are also items and artworks by the artists available for purchase, culminating in the chance to win a golden axe.

1a booth — Showcasing and selling works by featured artists, including prints, comics, illustrations, and zines. When making a purchase, you will have the chance to draw a special artist photocard. The featured artists are Chan Sum Kiu, Forrest Lau, Leung Chiu Yi, Li Pak Huen, Lonely Kidney, mo_chi_mo, Ng Wing Ki Rosanna, otto.room, Wen Ching Yiu, and Ben Wong.

Cattle Deport Hunt — During the carnival period, take a moment to walk around Cattle Depot. Search for hidden corners and cats and photograph the exact location. Come and show your photos at 1a gallery to receive a gift! Gifts are available while stocks last.
