Travel to Learn in the City (Student Portfolio)
The 'Travel to Learn in the City' Visual Arts Education Experimental Project 2010, which officially commenced in May 2010 and ran until March 2011, has finally reached its harvest season with the 'Travel to Learn in the City' Joint School Student Portfolio Exhibition! This exhibition is about to be held at 1a space in the Cattle Depot Artist Village, showcasing the fruits of a year-long, unwavering creative collaboration among teachers and students from 36 secondary school visual arts departments, alongside 12 artists across 9 groups.
This is no ordinary joint school exhibition. Through first-hand learning, visual arts teachers have deepened their understanding of the contemporary art landscapes in both Hong Kong and the international arena. By touring various exhibitions and major art events across the city, and working shoulder-to-shoulder with artists to design visual arts curricula from entirely new perspectives, they have progressively nurtured three exhibition themes of profound artistic depth and forward-looking vision. Jointly curated by the artist groups, these three themes echo one another through art history, Hong Kong's social culture, and the diverse experimental nature of contemporary art. The creative contents are closely intertwined, transforming the entire exhibition space and the student artworks into a singular, multifaceted installation art piece!
