The ‘Art Publication’ exhibition which has been kicked off on 9 Feb 2010, will be highlighted by a forum ‘When Visual Arts Meets Literary Publication’ at 3pm on 6 March 2010.  We are excited to have Pun Kwok Ling Lawrence, Tang Siu Wa, book designer Ah Cheuk and visual artist Choi Yan Chi to be our speakers.  Pun and Tang, with their expertise in literature publishing, will discuss the up and coming trend of literature book design, with Ah Cheuk specifying the characteristics in terms of visual elements, and Choi Yan Chi for further elaboration and round up in artistic aspect.  The forum is going to align the discipline of literature, design, visual art and publication, and reveal opportunities and possibilities of their collaboration.

On 3 April 2010, 1a space will feature artist Pak Sheung Cheun and Annie Wan in a Talk.  Pak’s artworks are often followed by series of narration.  Pak will talk about the interrelation and reinforcement between his works and text.  Wan will also share her experiences of publishing her artworks.  On 14 April 2010, 1a space will invite young cultural people Chan King Fai, Tang Ching Kin, Lau Kin Wah and etc. to hold a Reading Club.  With their professions in different aspects, they will navigate the art publications and share their insights with readers out of their picks.  Details of these 2 events will be announced later on our web www.oneaspace.org.hk.

More books and self-funded publications will be added to “Art Publication”.  Some of the publications are for sale. It will be an enjoyable experience for treasure hunt and reflection.   During the exhibition period, 1a space will showcase artworks by 7 artists.  Their artworks, in forms of sculpture, photography, video and drawing, are other ways of narration, which also echo with the story-telling character of publications.
