1a space will manifest and develop its reputation as one of Hong Kong's leading contemporary visual art organization, fostering the local art scene.

Over the past ten years, 1a space has presented and organized more than 100 exhibitions and activities, and has been active in international exchanges, cultural activities and festivals, as well as in interactive community arts, art education and appreciation, art criticism and publications. 1a space has played a vital role in developing new frontiers for the visual art scene in Hong Kong and its representation abroad. One of its major achievements is to establish contemporary visual art within a wide viewing public, making it more popular and accessible. For 2008 1a space wants to extend and continue its mission with enthusiasm.

Mission

1a space is a non-profit making art organization that is directed and run by artists for artists and art practitioners. 1a space is an open platform to cultivate and nurture local artistic talents with aims to promote the critical dissemination of contemporary visual arts practices and affiliated art forms in Hong Kong. 1a space emphasizes on nurturing of not just established but most of all emerging artists. 1a space aims to constitute a creative interface between the art community and the public
